FOOTGEAR: PICK 'N PAY ARGUS CYCLE TOUR REFRESHMENT STATION

The "Tour of Storms" is the new nick-name for the Pick 'n Pay Argus Cycle Tour 2009, but the Footgear refreshment station in Bakoven cooked up a storm of its own! Assisting the thousands of cyclists that battled through the wind was the name of the game, whether it was helping the Coca-Cola truck hand out drinks, helping the medics at the medical tent, fixing broken bicycles at the on-hand cycle repair shop or energetically cheering the cyclists on for the last 9km stretch.

Nominee for "Best Stand-up Comic of the Year" in 2007 at the SA Comedy Awards, and nominee in the 2006 "Fleur de Cap Theatre Awards" for "Best Performance in a One-hander". Newton is nothing short of a comedy chameleon, able to manoeuvre from one audience to another, he always fits the bill.

Hailed by fierce critic Derek Wilson of The Cape Argus as 'exquisitely funny', and The Cape Times as 'genius…he may just be our most natural stand up comedian'. Newton is a bright, fresh young actor. Turning his talent to managing an audience as master of ceremonies is as natural as his gift for comedy, moving from corporate conferences to fashion shows, from mayors to music stars.

Newton is back at the On Broadway Theatre for three weeks only from Tuesday 3rd February 2009 in his long awaited and eagerly anticipated, brand new show, simply entitled: 'LAUGH'. This new show goes back to the basics of stand-up comedy which, in its essence is simply about making audiences LAUGH. Tickets cost R70. Never stop dreaming - National Bandana Day 2008

The Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day took place on 23 September.People across South Africa will wore their bright and beautiful bandanas as a sign of solidarity with those suffering from leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders.

This year’s bandana design was based on the concept, ‘never stop dreaming.’ Many young South Africans are diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses such as leukaemia and with that diagnosis comes the reality that they may never fulfil their dreams. The Sunflower Fund attempt to offer these young people a second chance at reaching their dreams by providing a suitable bone marrow stem cell donor which could help them to overcome their illness. The bandana design features pictures depicting the common dreams of young children.

Funds raised from the sale of these bandanas go towards sustaining the work of The Sunflower Fund. The Sunflower Fund aims to educate and recruit well informed potential bone marrow stem cell donors that are ethnically diverse in an effort to save the lives of those needing a transplant when suffering from life-threatening blood disorders.
