Gavin Cowley

"Luck is where opportunity meets preparedness"

Gavin is the marketing director of adidas SA with an extension to include directing operations for the adidas brand for FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa. He is, in addition, a rugby television commentator for (M-Net) Supersport.

Born in Port Elizabeth and educated at Grey High School, Gavin is a qualified teacher with a BA Psychology degree and a diploma in Public Relations. He is also an accredited and is a (CPRP) Chartered Public Relations Professional.

Gavin has a string of sporting achievements to his name. In rugby he was a Springbok reserve, Junior Springbok and captained Eastern Province in 88 matches. He also played for SA Barbarians, Gazelles, SA Universities, SA XV and World XV. He captained the EP cricket side and played in 120 matches and also played cricket for SA Schools, Natal, Western Province and SA Universities and represented EP in field hockey.

Gavin is the co-author of the recently published book, "Raise Your Game".

Gavin has had vast experience in public speaking and is a naturally entertaining MC and keynote speaker, the synergies in business and sport being one of his favourite topics. He is also involved in the "Girl's Guide to the Game of Rugby" programme where he and Toks van der Linde teach women the laws of the game in a fun way.
